How to Make Homemade Pizza

1. Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of active dry yeast, and 2 teaspoons of salt. Add 1 and 1/2 cups of warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

2. Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about an hour until it has doubled in size.

3. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat up.

4. Prepare the Toppings

While the dough is rising, prepare your toppings. You can use anything you like, such as tomato sauce, cheese, vegetables, meats, or herbs.

5. Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal pieces. On a floured surface, roll out each piece of dough into a circle about 12 inches in diameter.

6. Assemble the Pizza

Carefully transfer one of the dough circles onto a piece of parchment paper. Spread tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edge. Add your toppings and sprinkle with cheese.

7. Bake the Pizza

Using a pizza peel or the back of a baking sheet, carefully transfer the pizza (still on the parchment paper) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

8. Serve and Enjoy

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Repeat with the remaining dough and toppings to make a second pizza.
